J. J. Spaun WITB (April 2026): Everything in the bag of the Texas Open champion
GolfMagic takes a deep dive into the bag of the reigning U.S. Open champion and current world number five.

Having captured his first major title with a two-shot victory at the 125th US Open last year, J.J. Spaun is now fully entrenched as one of world golf's most admired talents.
Spaun, 35, sits fifth in the world after capturing the third tour win of his career at the Valero Texas Open, once again seeing off Robert Macintyre – whom he also bested in the final stretch of play en route to winning his maiden major last year.
To speak of Spaun's mere wins, however, is to ignore the qualities that have made him one of the steadiest and most consistent names in professional golf over the last year. The San Diego State alum was a lock for last year's Ryder Cup, and finished seventh on tour in total scoring average.
While his start to the 2026 season has been shakier, Spaun's win in San Antonio sets him up perfectly going into major season, and it wouldn't at all be a surprise to see him emerge from this period as a two-time major winner.
A Srixon staff player alongside names like Keegan Bradley and Brooks Koepka, Spaun relies on the brand's ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons and its Z-Star Diamond golf ball to get the job done out on the course, however the American has a fairly eclectic set-up featuring a host of different brands and clubs.
Read on to see exactly what he had in play for his latest win.

Driver: Titleist GT3
Spaun's win at the Texas Open capped off yet another dominant weekend for Titleist drivers on tour, the brand's biggest metalwoods accounting for more than half of all those used on the PGA Tour. Indeed, Titleist drivers racked up a 1-2-3-4 finish at the Texas Open.
While Titleist have recently dropped a new driver line on tour in the GTS range, Spaun remains faithful to his slightly older GT3 driver, which he used in his U.S. Open win and has been a faithful companion to him on the tee ever since. His is equipped with a low-launch, low-spin Fujikura Ventus Black VeloCore+ shaft.
Fairway woods: TaylorMade Qi10
TaylorMade's Qi10 fairway woods are enduringly popular on tour, with many players both contracted to the company and not relying on them for accuracy and versatility both on the fairways and off the tee. Spaun is no exception, having had two Qi10 woods in the bag since their release in 2024.
TaylorMade's fairway woods are by far the most popular on tour, having racked up 35 victories last year, the majority of them going to the three different variants the Qi10 was offered in.
Irons: Srixon ZXi5 Mk II, Srixon ZXi7
A professed fan of Srixon’s irons, Spaun incorporates several of Srixon’s latest ZXi model irons throughout his bag to suit his multi-faceted game.
For his longest iron, he favours the slightly more forgiving ZXi5, while from his 5 iron down to the pitching wedge he plays the more player-oriented ZXi7 Mk II.
All of Spaun's irons come fitted with True Temper’s long-favoured Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts.

Wedges: Cleveland RTX, Cleveland RTZ
Tour golfers are famously hesitant to depart from short game set-ups that work for them, hence why Spaun has a fairly mixed set-up of Cleveland wedges in his bag. His three wedges come from different generations of Cleveland's mainline RT range, including the RTX6, RTX ZipCore and the most recent RTZ range.
Putter: L.A.B Golf DF3
One of the Tour's most notable L.A.B Golf converts, Spaun has long been a player synonymous with the brand's zero-torque DF3 model. Indeed, he's the only player to win a major with a L.A.B putter in the bag, having used the same DF3 in his U.S. Open win last year.
