Why China's biggest scooter brand could be the next big disruptor in golf

In 2026, we've become pretty much accustomed to the fact that China is going to have a big role in shaping the future of consumer tech.

Chinese cars are becoming increasingly common on western roads, while their phones and tablets remain enduringly popular among those who want high-end performance and features without handing over iPhone or Samsung money.

Even golf has seen a new wave of Chinese-based disruptors hit the market in growing years. MILESEEY, a laser optics brand based in Shenzhen, has become an overnight best-seller in the rangefinder space by offering a huge range of techy models (think hybrid rangefinder/touchscreen GPSs) at a significantly reduced price compared to the legacy brands.

However the biggest shock to the industry may come in the form of NAVEE, an e-mobility brand that will be expanding into the UK golf market over the course of this year. Founded in 2021, NAVEE has primarily plied its trade in e-scooters, becoming the world leader in portable mobility devices for city commuters. Now, however, it's dovetailed this success into an area of the golf industry ripe for disruption: the trolley sector.

The best electric golf trolleys represent a pretty significant investment if you want a decent list of features to match your outlay. While simple push carts are relatively affordable, motorised and remote-controlled trolleys can easily extend into the thousands of pounds – particularly if you want features like a follow function or a built-in GPS.

NAVEE's intention is to hit the legacy players hard with a wave of new electric trolleys that offer big-ticket features at a vastly reduced price. Headlining the new offering is the Birdie 3X: a powerful remote trolley with a follow function. While most big name follow trolleys will set you back in excess of £2,000, the Birdie 3X retails for just £1,299. We've tested it, and it works well.

NAVEE aren't simply content to rest on one solution, however. Pretty much every model in the new range has something completely different to offer compared to what we're used to seeing from the usual players in the trolley space.

The range-topping F1X is the brand's most fully-featured model, with a race-car inspired design (hence the name), a smart-follow function and a 5.5-inch GPS touch screen with 40,000+ global course maps. Fully remote-enabled, it also allows one-button recall within 150 meters, and uses a combination of AI, cameras and GPS to avoid obstacles in its follow mode.

Perhaps even cooler is the Eagle L1: a luxury-focused trolley that hides some seriously smart features under its design-led interior. Hewn from titanium with leather handles, discreetly-hidden motorised functionality and carbon-fibre wheels, what really sets the Eagle L1 apart is its portability. It tips the scales at just 4.5 kg, a full 10kg lighter than the F1X, and most impressively will be world's first golf trolley that's carry-on approved for flying.
