Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry both secured their first PGA Tour wins of the season at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
McIlroy and Lowry, in a nail-biting finish, carded a final round four-under 68 with a birdie on the 18th to force a sudden death playoff with Chad Ramey and Martin Trainer, who had set an early lead in the clubhouse at 25-under.
Heading back down the 18th for the playoff, McIlroy and Lowry's par was enough to win, with Ramey and Trainer faltering at the final hurdle to finish with a bogey.
The victory came in McIlroy and Lowry's first appearance together in the tournament after the pair agreed to team up over a 'drunken lunch' while celebrating victory after the 2023 Ryder Cup.
After a sluggish start to their final round, which saw the European duo card two bogeys in their first three holes, they got themselves going before and after the turn by making birdies on the 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th holes.
The pair shot rounds of 61, 70, 64, and 68 to get the job done in New Orleans.
The win marks McIlroy's 25th win on the PGA Tour and his first on the circuit since the Genesis Scottish Open in July 2023.
Lowry's victory makes it a hat trick of wins on the PGA Tour, with his last coming in 2019 when he won the Claret Jug at The Open Championship.
The victory has also seen the pair both shoot up the FedEx Cup standings, with Lowry moving from 41st to 12th and McIlroy rising from 44th to 15th.
The pair have already confirmed their intent to return to the tournament next year to defend their title.
