Guido Migliozzi: Turkish Delight

Hi guys

After a long off-season I’m ready and raring to go as my 2017 season tees off. I make my debut Challenge Tour season in Turkey this week and cannot wait.

I need to continue to test myself against great fields and the Challenge Tour really is the place for aspiring young professionals to test their game. I have so much respect for the Challenge Tour and it continues year after year to produce the very best talent.

The Tour recently celebrated its 400th European Tour win by a Challenge Tour alumnus, and I was delighted to see the 400th win go to a fellow Italian Edoardo Molinari and see him climb into the winners circle again.

In addition four previous Challenge Tour members played at the Masters earlier this month so I’m well aware the Challenge Tour will help me greatly to progress in the professional ranks.

Speaking of the Masters, it was incredible to see two heroes of mine battle it out on Masters Sunday. Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose are incredible golfers and fantastic ambassadors for our great game. I must admit I was a bit gutted to see Justin narrowly miss out on the Green Jacket as I got to spend some time with him at last year's Ryder Cup and we actually ended up as partners on a table tennis match!

Justin has given me some great advice on turning professional and he is the perfect example of how your first year as a professional can be very tough and you must simply stick at it and stay patient. For Justin to miss 21 missed cuts in a row after his Open success and then to go on to achieve everything he has in the game is incredible and I have huge respect for him as both a golfer and as a man.

It was impossible not to be pleased for Sergio in his long-awaited first major win after 73 previous attempts, though. He got there in the end and did it in fine style over those closing holes at Augusta. I won’t be surprised to see him go on to win a few more majors now he has that weight lifted from him. I actually had Rory McIlroy down for the win, but I have no doubts he will get that Green Jacket to complete the career Grand Slam one day very soon.

I was delighted to announce two weeks ago that I will be working with Your Golf Travel as a brand ambassador to promote golf in Italy. I have used Your Golf Travel many times to book golfing holidays with my friends and have always been impressed with them so I can't wait to start working with them and wearing their logo on my Galvin Green clothing this year. They offer great deals at over 3,500 holiday destinations across the globe so I'd encourage you to check out their website if you fancy getting away for some sun-kissed golf. I will be running a couple of competitions this year with them on my own blog so stay tuned for that!

So with my off-season now over, I am writing this having just arrived in Turkey for the Turkish Challenge. The evenings can be pretty quiet whilst on Tour so it's good to have things to keep you busy!

I’ve spent the last few weeks really working on my fitness, training four days a week, and in addition plenty of focus on my short game and putting drills as this is an area I really needed extra focus on. I feel fit and raring to go and a top-five finish at the Italian National Open Championship last week, missing out on a play-off by just one stroke, also helped shake off the cobwebs from a non competitive off-season!

Thanks for all the positive feedback from my first GolfMagic blog last month and I look forward to checking in with you again next month.

And remember, you can keep in regular contact with my life on Tour via Twitter @GuidoMigliozzi and Instagram Migliaus

I will put Your Golf Travel under pressure to come up with a cool competition for you guys very soon!

Guido
