LIV Golf's Brooks Koepka snaps back at reporter: "You can't play what-ifs!"

Brooks Koepka snapped back at a reporter on Friday following his first round of the LIV Golf Singapore event.

LIV Golf's Brooks Koepka snaps back at reporter:

Brooks Koepka was one of the most shocking names to be listed as a new member of LIV Golf when it was announced last summer, and he still appears to dance around whether or not he'd still make that decision today.

Koepka, 32, made his LIV Golf debut at the Portland event last July, joining his younger brother, Chase. Chase had been playing in the league since its inaugural event in London a month prior.

At that point, the elder Koepka was one of the first big names still in their prime on the PGA Tour to leave for Greg Norman's rival league.

Memorably, his decision was described as 'duplicitous' by Rory McIlroy

Though Koepka had already won four major championships and was a force on the PGA Tour, lingering injuries largely kept him from fully competing in the tournaments leading up to his departure for LIV Golf.

His last PGA Tour win came in February 2021 at the WM Phoenix Open. A year later, he couldn't break the top 50 in any of the four majors despite having a reputation for bringing his A-game to the biggest tournaments.

But by October 2022, a few months into being a LIV Golf member, things began to change and the old Koepka had seemingly returned. He clinched his first LIV Golf in Jeddah

Then, a week before this year's Masters, Koepka became the first player in the history of the league to win two LIV Golf events with his triumph in Orlando.

After the second day of action at Augusta, where Koepka was red-hot, he was asked if his LIV decision would've been tougher to make had he been as healthy as he was at The Masters this year.

He said:

"Honestly, yeah, probably, if I'm being completely honest. I think it would have been. But I'm happy with the decision I made."

He finished The Masters four-strokes back of winner Jon Rahm in a tie for second.

On Friday, following a 6-under par 65 at the LIV Golf Singapore event this week, Koepka was asked that same question again.

This time, he danced around the question before settling on a bit of a non-answer:

"I think I think it would have made my decision -- you can't play what-ifs; that's the whole thing. I was hurt, so this is the situation I've been in. I don't know; could it have been different? Yeah, that's pretty much what I said. But like I said at Augusta, I'm pretty happy with my decision."

After round one at Sentosa Golf Club, Koepka's one-stroke back of leader Talor Gooch. His team, Smash GC, is tied for third.
