McIlroy's regular caddie and best mate Harry Diamond is back at home in Belfast with his first newborn child, Georgia, alongside his wife Claire.
Diamond will reportedly be back on McIlroy's back for his first event of 2020 on the PGA Tour, which is expected to be the Farmers Insurance Open at the iconic Torrey Pines.
The World No.2 cannot win this week's European Tour Race to Dubai tournament as he is too far back on points in sixth place as things stand, but he will be keen to end his fantastic 2019 in style with a fifth win of the year and third career victory in this tournament.
McIlroy, who starts a warm 4/1 tournament favourite this week, won this event back in 2012 and 2015.
Bernd Wiesberger leads the Race to Dubai heading into the season finale, with Nedbank Golf Challenge winner Tommy Fleetwood in second. Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry and Matthew Fitzpatrick are the only other players in with a chance of taking the year-long race.
