A PGA Championship marshal has taken to social media to reveal just how close he came to being struck by Wyndham Clark's driver on the 16th tee in the final round.

Clark, 31, saw red after sending an errant tee shot into the bunker on the par-4 16th.

As his ball was sailing into the sand, Clark threw his driver viciously behind him and into a sponsor's board.

Clark's driver head flew off his shaft following impact with a Corebridge Financial sign.

Just behind that board was an on-course marshal holding up a flag to inform spectators where the ball was headed.

The marshal - by the name of Chris Deiulio - has since taken to X / Twitter to reveal just how close he came to being struck by Clark's driver.

"I'm the marshal holding the flag. Scared me to death," tweeted Chris, with a photo of Clark's driver head having ripped a hole in the board in front of him.

Clark's shocking temper led a number of golf fans to consider the 2023 U.S. Open champion should have been DQ'd from the US PGA.

Clark went on to make a bogey on the 16th - his second in a row - and he signed for a final round of 3-over 74.

It saw him finish T50 on 4-over par.

That was one shot worse than Rory McIlroy, who stormed out without having spoken to the media for a fourth straight day.

CBS' Amanda Balionis couldn't help but take a sly dig at McIlroy during her interview with PGA runner-up Bryson DeChambeau.

Clark's wild temper tantrum marked one of a number of strops we saw during the 2025 PGA Championship.

Shane Lowry smashed up some turf after being denied relief in the fairway.

The 2019 Open champion also took aim at an ESPN reporter for getting "too involved" in his rules situation.

LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton was then up to his old tricks again with his latest X-rated outburst.

We also saw Max Homa launch his club in frustration during the final round.

Clark has endured a tough run of form on the PGA Tour this season with just one top 10.

He was last year up to third in the OWGR but he now looks on from 20th

Clark is a three-time winner on the PGA Tour.

His last victory dates back to the weather-shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February 2024.
