Wyndham Clark has taken to social media to express deep regret in throwing his driver into a sponsor's board and nearly hitting a marshal during the final round of the PGA Championship.

He hopes golf fans can forgive him in "due time" for his actions.

Clark, 31, saw red after sending an errant tee shot into the bunker on the par-4 16th.

As his ball was sailing into the sand, Clark threw his driver viciously behind him and into a sponsor's board.

Clark's driver head flew off his shaft following impact with a Corebridge Financial sign.

Just behind that board was an on-course marshal holding up a flag to inform spectators where the ball was headed.

The marshal - by the name of Chris Deiulio - has since taken to X / Twitter to reveal the incident "scared me to death".

Clark has now taken to his social media to apologise for his actions.

"I would like to sincerely apologize for my behavior yesterday on Hole 16," wrote Clark.

"As professionals, we are expected to remain professionals even when frustrated and I unfortunately let me emotions get the best of me.

"My actions were uncalled for and completely inappropriate, making it clear that I have things I need to work on.

"I hold myself to a high standard, trying to always play for something bigger than myself, and yesterday I fell short of those standards.

"For that I am truly sorry.

"I promise to better the way I handle my frustrations on the course going forward, and hope you all can forgive me in due time."

Clark went on to make a bogey on the 16th - his second in a row - and he signed for a final round of 3-over 74.

He finished T50 on 4-over par.

Clark's tantrum marked one of a number of strops we saw during the 2025 PGA Championship.

Shane Lowry smashed up some turf after being denied relief in the fairway.

Lowry also took aim at an ESPN reporter for getting "too involved" in his rules situation.

Tyrrell Hatton also fired his latest X-rated outburst.

And Max Homa launched his club in frustration during the final round.
