Rival LIV Golf League reach unwanted milestone
Alex Noren's BMW PGA Championship victory was bad news for Bryson DeChambeau and LIV Golf, who now have zero players ranked in the world's top-20.
The updated Official World Golf Ranking for this week does not make good reading for LIV Golf fans.
Bryson DeChambeau has slipped to 21st in the rankings, meaning there are no LIV Golf players in the world's top-20 for the first time since the breakaway league was launched in 2022.
Alex Noren's playoff victory in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth propelled the Swede back into the top-20, pushing the two-time US Open champion out of that bracket.
Noren, who also won last month's British Masters title at The Belfry, was the week's big mover in the OWGR, rising 14 places up the rankings to 18th.
Scottie Scheffler extended his lead at the top of the pile thanks to his sixth victory of the year at the Procore Championship, where he came from behind to edge out Ryder Cup team-mate Ben Griffin.
Scheffler has now been world No 1 for 122 consecutive weeks since he dethroned Jon Rahm in May 2023, by far the longest run as top dog since Tiger Woods.
1 | Scottie Scheffler |
2 | Rory McIlroy |
3 | Xander Schauffele |
4 | Russell Henley |
5 | Justin Thomas |
6 | Tommy Fleetwood |
7 | JJ Spaun |
8 | Collin Morikawa |
9 | Bob MacIntyre |
10 | Harris English |
DeChambeau managed to maintain his place among the OWGR elite due to his excellent performances in the four majors this year.
He tied for fifth at The Masters, finished runner-up to Scheffler in the PGA Championship and, although he surprisingly missed the cut at the US Open, he bounced back with a top-10 in The Open at Royal Portrush.
DeChambeau remains the highest-ranked LIV Golf star, with Tyrrell Hatton four places below the American in 25th place following his top-five finish at Wentworth.
But you have to scroll down some distance to find the next-best LIV Golf player, with Patrick Reed coming in at 46th place, moving up from 73rd after managing a podium finish in the BMW PGA.
Rahm is up seven places to 73rd, and there are no other LIV Golf players inside the world's top 100.
