The crowd may have liked it, but PGA Tour star Billy Horschel did not...

Billy Horschel unleashed an almighty F-bomb despite the crowd applauding and complimenting the PGA Tour star on his tee shot at the par-3 7th during the second round of the Cognizant Classic

Horschel, 37, sent a towering iron shot over the flag but his ball ran out to some 38 feet into the heart of the green.

"Very nice", said one fan to the right of the tee box as Horschel sent his ball skywards.

"Nice shot", uttered another during some applause.

While the majority of us would be more than satisfied with such a shot from 197 yards, hence the claps and kind words from the fans, this is a former FedEx Cup champion we are talking about and standards are set high.

Once realising his ball had gone just a little too far beyond the pin, Horschel swung his club in the air and fired his F-bomb.

Horschel's reaction was captured on camera by a golf fan by the name of Carolyn.

The fan also mentioned how Horschel's playing partners Matt Wallace and Corey Conners complimented the shot.

Horschel went on to make a par at the 7th and he would return a score of 71, highlighted by birdies on the final two holes.

The seven-time PGA Tour winner is safely through to the weekend at the Cognizant Classic at The Palm Beaches.

Horschel looks on from outside the top 20 and six strokes behind on 5-under par.

Bud Cauley, who has returned to the PGA Tour this season following a lengthy spell off with injury following complications from a car incident in 2018, holds the outright lead thru 36 holes on 11-under par.

Rory McIlroy progressed nicely into position for a second win in this tournament having won at PGA National in 2012.

McIlroy birdied three of the final holes for a second consecutive round of 67 to move into the top 10 on 8-under par.

He is joined by playing partner and last week's maiden winner Jake Knapp, who went one better with a 66.

Ireland's Shane Lowry (67) and PGA Tour star Cameron Young (69) are also at 8-under par.

Young is unthinkably still going in search of his first PGA Tour title.

Thomas Detry produced one of the biggest shocks of the day when he six-putted from nowhere.

The Cognizant Classic at The Palm Beaches was formerly known as the Honda Classic.

Honda withdrew its long-time sponsorship of this event this season.
