MacIntyre makes blunt admission about PGA Tour rivals in candid interview, and explains why majors matter more than LIV millions.

Robert MacIntyre has revealed he does not like certain players on the PGA Tour, while also lifting the lid on why he has never been tempted by a move to LIV Golf.

The 29-year-old Scot, already a two-time PGA Tour winner following his breakthrough victories at the 2024 Canadian Open and the Scottish Open, has quickly cemented his place among Europe’s elite.

Now a Ryder Cup regular under captain Luke Donald, MacIntyre has enjoyed a rapid rise up the world rankings, reaching a career-high fifth earlier this season before slipping back to 12th after a mixed run of form.

That dip has included a difficult week at The Masters three weeks ago, where he missed the cut and drew attention for an incident with officials at Augusta National, before finishing tied 42nd at the RBC Heritage.

Despite those recent struggles, MacIntyre remains firmly focused on the biggest prizes in the game — and it is that ambition that has shaped both his career path and his views on the modern professional landscape.

In a candid interview with Golf Digest, MacIntyre admitted that while the divide between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour continues to dominate headlines, his own approach remains simple — even if it includes not seeing eye-to-eye with everyone around him.

"At the end of the day, the good people are still good people whether they went to LIV or stayed," he told the publication.

"There are guys on the PGA Tour I don’t particularly like, either. I’m not on any boards; I’m not getting involved.

"I’m just going to get the ball in the hole in as few shots as I can every week and go back to Scotland."

MacIntyre did not name the players he was referring to, but his comments offer a rare glimpse into the personal dynamics inside the PGA Tour locker room.

While relationships may vary, his professional priorities are crystal clear — and they are a key reason why he rejected the opportunity to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League.

MacIntyre confirmed he was approached about making the switch to LIV Golf but ultimately turned it down, insisting that his long-term ambitions could not be threatened.

"Didn’t want to compromise my dream," he told Golf Digest.

"My dream was to play Ryder Cups. I’ve done that. I’ve only got one dream left, and that’s winning a major. Once I do that, I could happily walk away the next day.

"The money we’re playing for on the PGA Tour is still extraordinary. I still have a great relationship with the DP World Tour. Tyrrell [Hatton] is someone I could call right now and ask anything."

For MacIntyre, the four majors remain the ultimate target — a pursuit that continues to drive his schedule and decision-making.

He came agonisingly close to that goal at the 2025 US Open, finishing runner-up to JJ Spaun, and will again build his season around peaking for golf’s biggest events.

His stance on LIV Golf has softened slightly over time, however, particularly when it comes to understanding why others made the jump.

"I voiced my opinion early on, that the money was obscene," he said.

"How much does a human need? But the more I’ve sat back and thought, I understand why certain guys went.

"Some timed it beautifully. Some guys I still think made crazy decisions. To each his own."

MacIntyre will return to action at next week's Truist Championship after opting to skip this week’s Cadillac Championship.

He will then turn his attention to the PGA Championship at Aronimink — the next opportunity to chase the major title that continues to define his career.
