Wyndham Championship Betting Tips: Expert picks two players to win at Sedgefield

The PGA Tour heads to Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina this week for the Wyndham Championship - the final event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs get underway next week.

While it isn't the strongest field of the season, there's still plenty to play for as players look to secure their place and build momentum into the Playoffs

With FedEx Cup positions on the line, expect no shortage of motivation throughout the week.

Defending champion Cameron Young returns looking to successfully defend the title he claimed in emphatic fashion 12 months ago, cruising to a stunning six-shot victory for his maiden PGA Tour win. 

Young headlines this week's field alongside exciting young American talents Jackson Koivun and Blades Brown, two of the game's brightest rising stars.

The field also features established PGA Tour winners including Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, Ben Griffin and PGA champion Aaron Rai, ensuring there is still plenty of quality despite the absence of many of the world's biggest names.

Last week's winner Michael Thorbjornsen and eight-time PGA Tour winner Patrick Cantlay both withdrew from the tournament on Monday.

Wyndham Championship 2026: Betting Tips

Pick 1: Cameron Young (9/1)

Cameron Young let a golden opportunity slip at last week's Rocket Classic after sharing the 36-hole lead before a cold putter saw him fade into a tie for eighth.

It was a frustrating finish for the World No.3, but the defending Wyndham champion looks perfectly placed to bounce straight back.

Young produced a dominant six-shot victory at Sedgefield last year to claim his maiden PGA Tour title and has quickly established the course as one of his favourites.

His record here is already exceptional. 

After finishing tied 24th on debut, he returned 12 months later to dismantle the field, while no player in this week's field boasts a lower scoring average over the last eight rounds at Sedgefield than Young's superb average of 66.

His recent form is equally encouraging. 

Before last week's top-10 finish, Young was runner-up at The Open after a costly bogey at the final hole denied him a playoff with Ryan Fox.

Everything points towards another strong challenge this weekend. 

If the putter warms up after an unusually quiet weekend in Michigan, Young has the all-round game to successfully defend his title and land a third title of 2026. 

At best odds 9/1, the defending champion looks excellent value in what is a relatively ordinary field by PGA Tour standards.

Pick 2: Hideki Matsuyama (22/1)

Hideki Matsuyama looks primed to end his winless run that dates back to The Sentry in January 2025.

The Japanese star has quietly built excellent momentum, recording four consecutive finishes of tied 14th or better on the PGA Tour.

He followed tied 14th-place finishes at both the Travelers Championship and The Open with tied third at the 3M Open before another impressive display at the Rocket Classic, where a closing 64 lifted him into a share of fifth.

When Matsuyama starts rolling putts confidently, he is one of the most dangerous players on Tour, and right now every department of his game appears to be trending in the right direction.

His Wyndham Championship record is mixed, featuring several missed cuts, but there are also encouraging results including a third, 11th and 19th.

Given his current form, those past inconsistencies are easy to overlook.

At best odds 22/1, Matsuyama represents excellent value to claim his first victory of the season and the 12th PGA Tour title of his career.
