Ryder Cup 2025: Keegan Bradley reacts to devastating 4½-11½ score
United States Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley says he has not given hope just yet despite trailing Europe by seven points heading into the Sunday singles.
United States Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley implored his team to remember the largest comeback in Super Bowl history after ruthless Europe set an imperious lead ahead of the final day.
Bradley's men came into the second day of this 45th Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black hoping to reduce Europe's three-point lead.
Instead, the blue and gold ran riot all day and extended their advantage to seven points heading into the Sunday singles.
Box office Bryson DeChambeau, who was involved in a heated exchange towards the end of the day, got some red on the board early when he and Cameron Young saw off Ludvig Aberg and Matthew Fitzpatrick in the opening foursomes match.
But then it was all one-sided. Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood grabbed their second victory in 48 hours over Harris English and Collin Morikawa with a 3&2 win.
Fleetwood now has the opportunity to go 5-0 should he win his match tomorrow.
Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton grabbed their second foursomes victory by seeing off Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay 3&2, whilst Viktor Hovland and Robert MacIntyre won on the final hole against Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley.
Four-time major champion Scheffler has now lost all of his matches.
Europe won a tense afternoon fourball session 3-1. McIlroy teamed up with Shane Lowry again and grabbed a point over Justin Thomas and Young. McIlroy received horrific personal abuse in his first match of the day and it continued into the afternoon.
On several occasions, even Thomas stepped in to quieten the crowd. Extra state troopers were also called to chuck out the hecklers. The Irish duo got the last laugh though, ultimately winning 2UP.
In the second match, DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler led Rose and Fleetwood on the 5th hole but an inspired performance from the 45-year-old helped add another point.
Rookie JJ Spaun, partnered with Schauffele, made a clutch birdie on the final hole of their match against Rahm and Sepp Straka to reduce the deficit.
But Hatton and Fitzpatrick birdied the final four holes in their match against Cantlay and Burns to ensure Europe lead 11½ - 4½.
Europe will undoubtedly be targeting a record margin of victory tomorrow. Steve Stricker's US team inflicted a heavy 19-9 defeat four years ago in Wisconsin and Donald's dozen will be hoping to go one better.
Bradley maintained a defiant stance despite the circumstances, telling reporters on Saturday that he attended the New England Patriots' incredible 2017 Super Bowl victory.
The Atlanta Falcons led 28-3 late in the third quarter, only for an inspired Tom Brady to mount the largest comeback in history.
"I was at that Super Bowl," he said when asked what his message to his team was. "I watched it. What a cool thing to have witnessed live in person."
Asked what he is seeing from Europe, Bradley said: "They're making everything. They're a great team. They're great players. They're a tough team to beat."
