Which pairings are we likely to see on the 2025 US Ryder Cup team?

GolfMagic Editor Andy Roberts predicts which players are likely to be paired together on Keegan Bradley's 2025 US Ryder Cup team at Bethpage in New York.

Keegan Bradley's 2025 US Ryder Cup team is now set to face Luke Donald's European defending champions at Bethpage from 26-28 September.

Bradley confirmed his six captain's picks on Wednesday 27 August.

Despite initial expectation he would become the first playing captain at the Ryder Cup since Arnold Palmer in 1963, Bradley declined to hand himself a pick and broke his own heart in the process.

In this article, GolfMagic has predicted the likely pairings we'll see for the stars and stripes in New York.

Some pairings for the fourballs and foursomes speak for themselves as we have seen them out there before at both the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup.

But there will definitely be some new ones as a result of Ben Griffin and JJ Spaun representing USA for the first time in their careers.

Here's a look at the team in full...

Scottie Scheffler

US Ryder Cup Team 2025

  • Scottie Scheffler
  • Xander Schauffele
  • JJ Spaun
  • Russell Henley
  • Harris English
  • Bryson DeChambeau
  • Collin Morikawa
  • Justin Thomas
  • Ben Griffin
  • Cameron Young
  • Patrick Cantlay
  • Sam Burns

The first six names made the team automatically and then the bottom six received picks from captain Bradley on Wednesday 27 August.

But the big question now is who is likely going to play with who at Bethpage?

Let's dive in...

US Ryder Cup Team 2025: Predicted Pairings

Russell Henley
Russell Henley
Scottie Scheffler / Russell Henley

There's no doubt we'll see this one out there at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

I think at least twice too.

Scheffler and Henley went 2-1 together at the 2024 Presidents Cup.

Both players are two of the strongest players on Bradley's team and they both bring the most consistent form to the table for the Americans.

Scheffler is the World No.1, Henley is World No.4, and I think this duo will prove a major thorn in Europe's trophy defence.

I'd be very surprised if we don't see this partnership in both of the foursomes sessions, and maybe even once in the fourballs.

Scottie Scheffler / Sam Burns

Although this duo has proven unsuccessful in recent Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup matches, I think Bradley will be tempted to send Burns out with his best mate Scheffler for at least one of the fourball sessions at Bethpage.

Scheffler and Burns have played together four times (three times at the 2022 Presidents Cup and once at the 2023 Ryder Cup).

They have a poor 0.5-3 record when playing alongside each other.

But you could argue both players' game are on a different level as we head into the 2025 Ryder Cup.

So Bradley will likely give them another shot to improve on their record.

Sam Burns
Sam Burns
Sam Burns / Patrick Cantlay

I think Burns will probably get one match with Scheffler and I think he'll get another with Cantlay.

This duo went 2-0 at the 2024 Presidents Cup so Bradley is likely to have taken note of that.

Cantlay has not enjoyed his best stuff out there lately but he did show signs of a resurgence at the Tour Championship with a runner-up finish.

Yes, Cantlay often infuriates fans with his lethargic pace of play, but there can be no denying he is one of the best golfers in the United States.

He typically brings his best stuff to the Ryder Cup, testament to his 5-2-1 record.

Patrick Cantlay / Xander Schauffele

In very similar chain of thought to the above, I think Cantlay will head out there once with Burns and again with his best mate Schauffele.

Cantlay and Schauffele are a respectable 7-6 when together in Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup matches.

That's solid form and they know each other's games well as they practice together every week on the PGA Tour.

This will definitely be a pairing we'll see once, and maybe even twice during the week.

Xander Schauffele
Xander Schauffele
Xander Schauffele / Justin Thomas

We can see this pairing being sent out there by Bradley at least once in the foursomes.

They are two extremely solid ball strikers with major pedigree and Ryder Cup experience.

Schauffele is likely to head out there with Cantlay once or twice as we say, but we can Schauffele being sent out there with Thomas at some stage.

Neither Schauffele or Thomas have had their best seasons on the PGA Tour, but they'll be eager to impress as they look to regain the Ryder Cup for the United States.

Cameron Young / Collin Morikawa

Morikawa has been in woeful form by his own high standards this season, and I honestly don't think he'll play more than two games all week.

I could be wrong, he may get three, but there are much more in-form players on the US Ryder Cup team than Morikawa at the moment.

Then again, Morikawa does own a solid enough record of 4-3-1 at the Ryder Cup so Bradley may want to send him out there a fair bit.

Much of the time at Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups, captains tend to give players more opportunities if they start a session well.

Morikawa has teamed up with both Scheffler and Burns in recent matches, but I think Scheffler and Burns are better suited elsewhere.

I can see Morikawa going out there with in-form Young, especially as they played twice together at the 2022 Presidents Cup.

Young has been in fantastic form of late and hopefully for the Americans he can help spark Morikawa into life.

I can see this pairing heading out in one of the foursomes sessions.

Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau / Cameron Young

Young and DeChambeau in the fourballs would be electric.

Two of the biggest-hitting Americans ripping 350-yard drives on the regular in front of the home fans.

Young is also from New York, and well, DeChambeau is popular just about all over the world these days.

Yup, I'm all over this one...

Young is a Ryder Cup rookie but he did play in the 2022 Presidents Cup where he took 1.5 points from a possible 4.

He looks an entirely different player right now off the back of his recent first PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship, and he is arguably one of the most in-form Americans heading into Bethpage as I say.

DeChambeau needs little introduction and he's enjoyed another brilliant season in the majors and on LIV Golf.

He's making his fourth appearance on a US team so he's certainly one of the most experienced players for the stars and stripes now.

This is Young's Ryder Cup debut so of course there will be nerves, but I think unleashing him out there with a fellow bomber is what the fans will want to see.

Bryson DeChambeau / JJ Spaun

I think there's going to be reliance on the more experienced players such as Thomas and DeChambeau heading out there with the rookies.

It might be a case of Thomas with Spaun but I think it's more likely to be DeChambeau and Spaun, and probably in the foursomes.

Spaun automatically qualified for his first US team after winning the US Open and he ran Rory McIlroy close at The Players Championship.

He more than deserves his place on this team, and he will definitely get his chance to prove himself.

Spaun with DeChambeau could work nicely for the Americans in the foursomes.

If not, I think it could be with Thomas.

Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas / Ben Griffin

With no Spieth to partner Thomas at the Ryder Cup, I think it makes a lot of sense to stick out America's most experienced player with rookie Griffin.

Griffin's has been remarkably consistent for the past five months on the PGA Tour and you would think he will have no issues taking to the biggest stage of them all at the Ryder Cup.

No doubt there will be a lot of nerves on the 1st tee, just as there will be for all 24 players teeing it up at the Ryder Cup, but I think he'll cope with it.

I think the experience of Thomas alongside him would be the prudent play for Bradley.

Thomas loves the Ryder Cup, testament to his 7-4-2 record.

Harris English / Russell Henley

While I do think Henley will play a couple of times with Scheffler, there might be one match where we see him head out there with English.

Both players are from Georgia and know each other well so I think it makes sense to partner them up when Scheffler goes out there with Burns.

As I say above, I do think Henley and Scheffler could be a very successful pairing for the Americans but we'll have to wait and see.

While English and Henley have never teamed up before for the United States, I think it has potential to happen.

What do you make of our predicted US Ryder Cup team pairings?

Who do you think will head out with who?

What do you make of the team at large?
