LIV Golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau received a stray from golf legend Johnny Miller after he missed the cut at the US Open.

DeChambeau, who was defending his title at Oakmont, shockingly missed the cut at Oakmont on 10-over par following rounds of 73 and 77.

Miller, who hit a record-setting 63 in the final round to come from six shots back to win the 1973 US Open at Oakmont, was pressed by a reporter on Saturday as to which area of a player's game needs to be most sharp heading into the weekend.

With five inches of rough at Oakmont, two-time major champion Miller did not hesitate and claimed it's all about finding the short grass

"So when you can get the ball in the fairway you can work the ball if you need to, and you eliminate so many mistake upon mistakes," said Miller, who was sat alongside record 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus at the time.

"If you hit it here in this rough and you try to get too much out of the lie, you get in even more trouble.

"It's still all about hitting that ball in the fairway.

"You see the guys that don't — like Bryson DeChambeau, he was living in the rough there this last couple days.

"Of course he gets to watch it on TV today."

DeChambeau was one of a number of top players to miss the cut at the US Open

The big-hitting American was attempting to become the first player since his LIV Golf peer Brooks Koepka in 2018 to successfully defend the US Open.

DeChambeau opened with a 73 but after the round admitted he would have shot a 68.

He then went on to shoot a dismal 77 to finish three shots outside the cut mark on 10-under par.

The LIV Golf superstar had been bigging up his game ahead of the US Open.

DeChambeau considers the US Open is a tournament that typically brings the best out of him.

It most certainly did not this week.
