Dustin Johnson has revealed when he's likely to retire.

The former U.S. Open champion and PGA Tour star turned LIV Golf recruit has been struggling in the major championships ever since he joined the PIF-backed league in 2022.

Of course, it was always expected that he would tumble down the world rankings but some have suggested he no longer has the pedigree to compete at the highest level.

Even his former coach Butch Harmon told us on the eve of the 2025 Masters he wasn't fully convinced the golfer was 100 per cent committed anymore.

Johnson will tell you otherwise and, at the start of the week claimed the fine margins of the sport don't paint a true picture of where his game is at.

But he also knows he won't be around for long and has no plans - just like Rory McIlroy - to play senior golf.

"I think I've got another six years in me," Johnson told the Associated Press.

"I can grind for another six years. And then I'm going fishing."

What is Dustin Johnson's record in the majors since he joined LIV?

Johnson produced solid and respectable results in the majors in the early part of his career with LIV but has since faded significantly.

He's missed five of his last seven cuts in the majors.

More worryingly for Johnson, he has also not finished in the top three in any LIV Golf event on his last 20 starts.

Jon Rahm has never failed to finish outside the top 10 on the breakaway tour since he switched in December 2023.

Rahm told reporters at Oakmont the smaller 54-man fields have contributed to that streak

What has Dustin Johnson said about his game?

That he's not far away.

"I feel like my game's been really close," he said on Monday.

"I haven't really got a lot out of it. So it was definitely nice to have a nice finish last week [in Virginia]. I played good every day.

"I didn't ... you know, still kind of giving away some shots. I need to clean that up a little bit."

Johnson is playing the first two rounds of the 2025 U.S. Open with Jordan Spieth and the aforementioned Rahm.
