Who is Maxwell Moldovan? Meet the American who holed out for eagle on 1st hole at US Open
Who is Maxwell Moldovan? Meet the 23-year-old American who did the unthinkable with his first approach shot at the 2025 US Open at Oakmont.
Maxwell Moldovan raced out the blocks in the first round of the 2025 US Open at Oakmont by holing out his second shot for eagle on the par-4 1st.
Moldovan, 23, found the opening fairway and then sunk his approach shot from 189 yards.
The American landed his ball just short of the green and he read the slope perfectly for an eagle-two.
He has since dropped back on the leaderboard but his opening hole feat in the first round of the US Open most certainly marks a career highlight.
Scroll down to watch what will potentially end up being a shot of the week contender.
Moldovan is making his fourth straight appearance in the US Open despite not being a household name on the PGA Tour.
He primarily plays his golf on the PGA Tour Americas.
Moldvan won his first pro title in early April at the Brazil Open.
But since then he has recorded just one top-10 finish in his last five starts.
Moldovan is ranked 536th in the world.
