Bryson DeChambeau mocked over unusual PGA Championship outfit at Aronimink
Bryson DeChambeau’s PGA Championship jacket sparks social media frenzy.
Bryson DeChambeau became an early talking point at the PGA Championship — and it had little to do with his golf.
The LIV Golf star arrived at Aronimink Golf Club wearing an oversized puffy jacket despite temperatures in the Philadelphia area sitting close to 60 degrees on Thursday morning.
The bulky outerwear quickly caught the attention of fans online, with social media users joking that DeChambeau looked more prepared for an NFL playoff game than the second major championship of the season.
“Bryson is dressed like he’s taking the dog out at 6 a.m. during a snowstorm,” one fan wrote on X.
Another compared the two-time U.S. Open champion to a backup quarterback heading to the sidelines with a tablet in hand.
Others questioned the decision more directly, with one user writing: “Pushing 60 degrees and Bryson is bundled up like that.”
Not everyone piled on, however.
Some fans defended DeChambeau, noting his Texas roots and suggesting the cooler morning conditions may have felt far colder to someone used to warmer climates.
The viral moment adds another layer of attention to a crucial week for DeChambeau, who arrives at the PGA Championship facing renewed scrutiny over his recent form.
On the course, DeChambeau is off to a slow start at golf's second major of the season.
He's fallen to over par in the early stages of the first round.
While the 32-year-old American has enjoyed plenty of success in majors — recording five top-five finishes in his last nine starts, including a victory — inconsistency has crept into his game.
He missed the cut at the Masters last month and also failed to make the weekend at last summer’s U.S. Open.
Despite those setbacks, DeChambeau boasts one of the strongest recent records in this event.
He has finished no worse than tied fourth at the PGA Championship over the past three years, including consecutive runner-up finishes in 2024 and 2025.
