McLaren has officially entered the golf equipment market with the launch of McLaren Golf, unveiling its first irons — the Series 1 and Series 3 — as a high-profile trio of investor-players prepare to debut the clubs in competition.

Justin Rose, Ian Poulter and Michelle Wie West have all joined the brand as both ambassadors and investors, forming the core of McLaren Golf’s player-led development strategy as it moves into elite-level equipment manufacturing.

The new irons will make their competitive debut at the Cadillac Championship in Miami on the PGA Tour this week, with Rose leading the on-course launch.

First revealed in March, McLaren Golf extends the brand’s high-performance engineering philosophy from motorsport into golf, using advanced manufacturing and design principles to push equipment innovation.

McLaren Golf’s debut roster brings together three globally recognised names with major championship pedigree.

Rose, a US Open champion, Ryder Cup hero, Olympic gold medallist, FedEx Cup champion, former world number one and 13-time PGA Tour winner, has been closely involved in McLaren Golf's product development for nearly two years.

Poulter, a Ryder Cup legend and LIV Golf star, and Wie West, a U.S. Women’s Open champion, have also invested into the brand.

All three players have worked directly with McLaren engineers during testing and development of the new irons.

McLaren Golf Series 1 and Series 3 irons debut in Miami

McLaren’s first product line consists of two models: Series 1 Tour blade and Series 3 players-distance iron.

Rose, 45, will debut a blended set on the PGA Tour, combining both models depending on club selection.

“Basically, right now it’s irons is the offering,” said Rose.

“Yeah, 4-iron through. I got the two sets available. I got the 1s and 3s. The 1s are very much a good player blade. The 3s are very much more your approachable mid handicap style club, which is just performing so well in my long irons that I can’t not put it in.”

“I’m just refining that last end of the bag. Like do I put a 5-iron with the blade or the 3s in. So I’m making those final little decisions.”

Rose spoke at large about his equipment switch with PGA Tour reporters on Tuesday.

Engineering-led design inspired by motorsport

At the centre of McLaren Golf’s design approach is Metal Injection Molding (MIM), a high-precision manufacturing process that allows detailed control over material structure, weight distribution and internal geometry.

The brand says this enables performance tuning at a level not typically seen in golf equipment, mirroring its Formula 1 engineering philosophy.

Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Automotive, said:

“McLaren Golf translates the precision and performance mindset that defines our brand into a new, relevant context. It’s a strategic extension of McLaren designed for those who value performance, craftmanship and purpose.”

Two iron models, one performance system

The Series 1 is designed as a modern Tour blade, combining compact shaping with internal tungsten weighting and McLaren’s Structural Mesh design to enhance stability and control.

The Series 3 focuses on speed and forgiveness, using carbon fibre elements and a heel-cut sole design to improve turf interaction and maintain ball speed through impact.

Together, the two models form a unified performance system aimed at elite and aspiring Tour players.
