Bryson DeChambeau got off to a torrid start to the third round of The Masters, playing his first seven holes in 4-over-par.

The big-hitting American had a poor opening round of 4-over-par but a scintillating 67 on Friday brought DeChambeau back into contention heading into the weekend.

However, the 27-year-old started the third round poorly with a double-bogey on the par-3 4th hole, which was his second double-bogey on the hole this week.

Things didn't get better for the US Open Champion when he bogeyed the 5th and 7th holes and the struggles that DeChambeau spoke about after his first round began to creep back in.

He began to show potential with birdies at the par-5 8th hole and the par-4 11th hole as he entered Amen Corner, which is arguably the toughest part of Augusta National.

However, he met difficulty again on the par-3 12th hole as his tee shot found the water at the front of the green. He went on to make the second double-bogey of his round.

Despite not finding the fairway on the par-5 13th hole, DeChambeau hit his approach between two trees and he impressively found the putting surface. He went on to make a birdie and followed this up with another one on the 14th hole.

But the World No.5 gave another shot back on the 16th hole where he three-putted for bogey. He made par on the final two holes to finish on 2-over-par for the tournament heading into Sunday.
