G20 and friends step onto winner's rostrum in the 2012 Hot List

PING strikes Gold at Golf Digest awards

PING has achieved its strongest ever showing in Golf Digest’s 2012 ‘Hot List’ issue by winning eleven Gold Awards – the most of any company.

Highlighted by Editor’s Choice honours for its stunning new i20 iron in the magazine’s annual review, PING celebrated further success with just about every other club in its resume, including the G20 driver, Anser forged wedges and Scottsdale Series putters.

“To be the leader in such an important and thorough equipment review is further validation for one of our strongest, most comprehensive product lines in history,” said PING chairman and CEO John Solheim.

“Our strategy is to offer the highest-performing products that appeal to all types of golfers and abilities. These results show we’ve accomplished our goal by taking a balanced approach to product design, which ensures golfers can optimise their games through a combination of technology and custom fitting.”

PING claims its i20 irons are a progressive design, meaning the long irons are slightly larger, high launching and more forgiving, while its short irons are smaller and feature less offset to provide exceptional control.

The G20 Series also swept gold in each category it entered, with the editor commenting ‘the upgrade is so good that even G15 users might consider changing’, while PING further strengthened its reputation for innovation in putter design with victories for both Anser and Scottsdale blade and mallet putters.

Elsewhere, Titleist picked up gold awards for its popular 910 series, as used by the PGA Tour’s most recent champion Steve Stricker, with TaylorMade’s brand new RocketBallz design following suit.

All judging was based on a 100-point scale, with gold products earning a score of 93 or more.
