Full Biography

Scottie Scheffler is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour.

Scheffler was born on 21 June 1996 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Diane and Scott Scheffler.

He lived there until he was six years old before the family decided to move to Dallas.

Scheffler has three siblings - all sisters - called Callie, Molly and Sara.

His interest in golf began at the age of three years old.

It has been reported that his father bought him a plastic set of golf clubs and balls and the rest - as they say - is history.

The first club Scheffler was involved in was Royal Oaks Golf Club where he was tutored by Randy Smith, who coached 1997 Open winner Justin Leonard.

Smith still coaches Scheffler and he has never sought to change his crazy footwork during his golf swing.

It has been dubbed the Scheffler Shuffle.

Scheffler had an outstanding amateur career and was named the Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year in 2015 while attending the University of Texas.

He was also a member of the winning 2017 Walker Cup team, representing the U.S.

Scheffler earned his PGA Tour card in 2019 while playing on the Web.com Tour, now known as the Korn Ferry Tour.

He was named the 2020 PGA Tour Rookie of The Year.

His breakthrough PGA Tour victory came at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.

Scheffler claimed his maiden major victory with a three-stroke win over Rory McIlroy at the 2022 Masters.

On 15 April 2024, he claimed his second green jacket at Augusta National, this time winning by four strokes over Ludvig Aberg

Scheffler is married to Meredith Scudder. The couple tied the knot in 2020 having dated for six years.

On 8 May 2024, the couple welcomed the birth of their first child - a baby boy called Bennett.

The couple met in high school. They are both devout Christians.

Scheffler is a TaylorMade staff player. His caddie is Ted Scott

Outside of golf, his interests include basketball and table-tennis. His shoe size is 11.5.

An interesting fact about Scheffler is that he always uses the same quarter to mark his ball when playing golf.

One of his best friends is fellow PGA Tour star and his Ryder Cup teammate Sam Burns.

Scheffler endured one of the toughest moments of his life when he was arrested on Friday 17 May as he drove to Valhalla ahead of the second round of the US PGA.

The World No.1 misunderstood the traffic flow situation heading into the club following a fatal collision that took place an hour earlier outside of Valhalla.

He went to jail for just over an hour, and was then released before going on to finish T8 in the second major of the season.

Scheffler was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer.

But all charges were dropped on 29 May.

Prosecutors said they simply did not have enough evidence to go forward with the case, and they asked a judge to close the case.

He then clinched his 11th career PGA Tour title and a fifth in eight starts during the 2024 season with a narrow one-shot victory over Collin Morikawa at the Memorial Tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus.

Scheffler then made it six wins in 10 starts on the PGA Tour with a 12th career title at the Travelers Championship.
