PGA Tour star Cameron Young sends warning to Scottie Scheffler ahead of crucial stretch
Cameron Young still believes it's possible to catch Scottie Scheffler in the FedEx Cup.
Cameron Young still believes he has a genuine chance to make a late-season push for FedEx Cup glory.
Young enters the closing stretch of the season sitting third in the standings, with his sights set on leapfrogging England's Matthew Fitzpatrick and ultimately chasing down world number one Scottie Scheffler.
The task is a daunting one but Young told reporters before the Wyndham Championship that "nothing is given and nothing's impossible".
"I'm in third right now, I have second well relatively within reach," he said. "To catch Scottie I'd have to kind of go nuts, but that's the goal.
"If I can put together starting now three really good weeks of golf, there's always a chance.
"That's the goal. And really to accomplish it, it's just step by step.
"It starts Thursday this week just trying to put together a bunch of good golf shots and see what it adds up to.”

Young's game has gone from strength to strength since he secured his first PGA Tour title here 12 months ago.
Although the United States lost the 2025 Ryder Cup, Young was the standout player for the red, white and blue by winning three points from four matches.
In March, Young pipped the aforementioned Fitzpatrick to the 2026 Players Championship and added another win to his resume at the Cadillac Championship in Miami.
He's now third in the Official World Golf Ranking behind Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
"I always believed I was capable of winning a tournament, but I hadn't yet, so it's nice to be able to say I believe that I can win a PGA Tour event and also be able to look back and say I’ve done it before," Young said.

Young arrives at Sedgefield Country Club just over two weeks removed from his near miss at the 2026 Open Championship.
It was the second time Young finished runner-up at golf's oldest major. Young said he's still feeling frustrated and proud.
"It was a miracle in a sense that I had a chance really coming down Sunday," he said.
"Like you wouldn't have thought that the winning score was going to be backwards.
"So to put together a great round and that's a couple hours of being frustrated.
"After that, hey, I played some great golf, every bit good enough to win a major championship.
"You just kind of [have to] put your head down and go to the next week.
"I feel like I did that last week at Rocket, I played well, just didn't make much. Finished eighth.
"Ended up losing by I think six, but it was closer there for a long time.
"Michael [Thorbjornsen] just played some incredible golf down the stretch. There's nothing I can really do about that.
"I played really well and I feel like if I can continue to do that, I'm going to continue to be in position and that's how you win tournaments.
"You can't force them, you just keep putting yourself there and they do go your way here or there."
