Alex from GolfMagic took the new PING Glide 4.0 wedge to Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate to assess its feel, performance and forgiveness.

PING has made huge strides with its wedge ranges. Their Glide Forged Pro wedges were the perfect short club for the better golfer.

Professionals are comfortable with PING wedges in their bags. The latest release represents a great continuation as they are suited to every player.

The Glide Forged Pro wedge suited lower handicappers, but the Glide 4.0 provided an option for every golfer and they provide a great feel off the clubface.

In terms of their design, they look absolutely great. The look is stylish and smart and it is a design that has also evolved over the years.

There is still a degree of offset and a hint of PING's typical chunky nature and this contributes to the forgiveness that is found across the clubface.

PING pride itself on the custom-fitting process and these wedges can be tailored to your swing. You can produce a good level of spin from across the clubface too.

This set contains three wedges and different options in bounce and grind. The Hydro Pearl finish will give you the same shot characteristics in any weather conditions.

You will be able to get spin from the fairways, bunkers and rough and this is consistent with short chips and full-on shots to the green. They allow you to be confident in hitting bump-and-run chips and spinny pitches.

These wedges are £160 each which is expensive, but they are a sound investment.
