England's Georgia Hall has backed her good friend Charley Hull to end her major championship drought sooner rather than later.

The 30-year-old is undoubtedly the biggest star in the women's game yet to enter the winner's circle at one of the five major championships.

Hull has racked up five runner-up finishes at the majors in her career so far, with the latest disappointment arriving at last month's U.S. Women's Open in Los Angeles.

The Kettering native, as is so often the case, produced a final-round charge at Riviera Country Club but ultimately finished one shot behind dominant world number one Nelly Korda.

But Hall, who only recently returned to the women’s game after the birth of her first child, believes that Hull will finally get the job done.

“She's done so well, and obviously, five runner-up finishes at the majors would hurt, and I've read that it does, but I think she's such an awesome player," Hall said on the Sky Sports golf podcast.

"I think that she can win anywhere, and obviously she's in great form as well, and being really close to her is like I'm willing her to win a major.

"She's definitely close, and I think she should be very proud of herself, because she's doing so well. It will come, just be patient."

Hull, who missed the cut at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, will get her next chance to end her long wait for a major title at this week's Amundi Evian Championship in France.

The AIG Women's Open then heads to Royal Lytham & St Annes from 29 July to 2 August.

Talking to reporters in the immediate aftermath of the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open, Hull said: "It's just frustrating. Another second place. I think that's five second place finishes I've had in majors now.

"So, yeah, it's pretty annoying, but I played really well the last day. Obviously missed a couple putts on the back nine, but it was quite windy and I hit the ball fantastic, so fair play to Nelly Korda for back-to-back wins.

"But I just love playing in the majors. I pretty much only get up for the majors. It's really weird, I just love playing in majors. If it's a normal week-to-week I struggle sometimes getting the motivation.

"But when it comes to major week, I just love it. Even just making the cut and getting to the weekend I can make a massive charge.

"But, no, I loved it out there. It was so much fun. The crowds were great and it was nice to see so many young kids around."

Hull's runner-up finishes in the majors include the 2016 Chevron Championship, the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open and AIG Women’s Open in 2023 and 2025.
