Tiger Woods' teenage son Charlie is heading back to the US Junior Amateur.

The 16-year-old teed it up in a qualifier at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Florida on Thursday with five places on the line for the prestigious junior event.

Charlie, who won his first American Junior Golf Association title last month, went round in 1-under 71 while his father watched.

He dropped a shot on his final hole of the day which meant he had to head to a three-way playoff.

Charlie prevailed and will now head to the US Junior Amateur for the second year in a row.

The US Junior Amateur, which features a field of 264 competitors, takes place over 21-26 July at Trinity Forest in Dallas.

He will be hoping to improve on his performance in 2024, where he missed the cut after two rounds of stroke play at Oakland Hills.

Charlie shot rounds of 82 and 80 to finish on 22-over.

At the 2024 PNC Championship, Charlie admitted that he felt as though he had been putting too much pressure on himself.

Charlie made the admission after he and his father lost in a playoff to German legend Bernhard Langer and his son Jason at the parent/child PGA Tour event.

His latest achievement arrives a month after he achieved his first significant AJGA title.

In May, Charlie claimed a three-shot victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Bowling Green, Florida.

Tiger played in 13 AJGA tournaments from 1991 to 1993 and won eight.

Phil Mickelson also won the same number of AJGA titles.

Charlie began his fifth AJGA event one shot behind the overnight leader, but carded a six-under 66 claim the title.

He began that week 606th in the AJGA rankings but has now moved up to 17th.

Charlie left his father a note of gratitude after that victory.

It was shared on Father's Day by the AJGA and Charlie revealed their relationship is not out of the ordinary.

"Thank you, Dad, for believing in me in times where I didn't even believe in myself," he wrote.

"Even though we argue a lot, I still cherish every moment and I would just like to say thank you for everything you have done for me."
