Jordan Spieth makes most Jordan Spieth par ever after nearly hitting spectator in the head
PGA Tour golfer Jordan Spieth made an electric par at the opening hole of the final round of the Memorial Tournament after nearly hitting a spectator.
Jordan Spieth left PGA Tour viewers with hearts in their mouths during the final round of the Memorial Tournament.
Spieth began the final round of the signature event at Muirfield Village in Ohio with aspirations of chasing down leader Scottie Scheffler.
The three-time major champion got off to a rocky start by carving his tee shot at the par-4 opener so far right that shot tracking barely picked it up.
The American was faced with a gnarly lie - ball well above feet - and 168 yards to a pin that was tucked to the back left of the green.
Spieth decided to go for the dancefloor in two strokes but didn't get the connection he desired and almost struck a spectator directly in the head.
His arms fell off the club immediately after impact and his golf ball went whizzing by one man's head.
PGA Tour fans on X pointed out how amusing it was that Spieth still managed to twirl his club.
"I will never understand why anyone would stand that close to the shank side of a golfer," one X user wrote.
"Love that he still twirled the club," another added. This person chimed in: "I cannot stop watching."
Spieth's ball travelled only 90 yards but he walked off the green with a par by sinking a putt from 22 feet.
He picked up a birdie at the next hole, which at the time reduced Scheffler's lead to four.

Jordan Spieth picks out 'most impressive' part of Scheffler's game
Spieth is chasing his first PGA Tour title since the 2023 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.
The 31-year-old is attempting to get back to his best after undergoing wrist surgery last August.
It led to his longest spell on the sidelines since his PGA Tour debut.
To win, Spieth will have to get through the undisputed best player on the planet right now.
"I'm not going to sit here and say that I've ever had the kind of ball striking or consistency that he's had," Spieth told a reporter after round three of the Memorial when asked what impresses him most about Scheffler.
"But certainly all of us have had weeks or months or half a year or whatever where we feel that kind of control.
"What impresses me the most is his club face control is elite. It's maybe the best there's ever been as far as club face control. So his consistency is ridiculous.
"And then that just leads to his distance control being phenomenal. There's a shot in and the worst he's going to do is 15 feet."
