Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald told by former vice: "Make up your mind soon"
Former European Ryder Cup vice captain Nicolas Colsaerts has urged skipper Luke Donald to make up his mind soon about his role.
Former European Ryder Cup vice captain Nicolas Colsaerts has urged Luke Donald to make up his mind over his role in the team.
Colsaerts was one of Donald's vice captains for the 2023 matches at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Italy.
The big Belgian golfer even got the biennial event underway with an enormous war cry and led a thunderclap on the first tee.
But he is yet to be informed by current skipper Donald whether he will reprise his role for the 2025 contest at Bethpage Black.
He told bunkered: "You'd have to be stupid to think I'm not on the shortlist.
"I think [Luke] is doing the right thing, though. Last time, I was probably announced too early.
"He's looking at his options. But I'd like him to make a decision quick because I'd like to know what I'm doing in September."

Who else is in Donald's team?
Donald named former skipper Thomas Bjorn as his first vice-captain.
And stats guru Edoardo 'Dodo' Molinari will also be involved once again in September.
Last month, former Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal also confirmed he had accepted Donald's offer to be a vice captain again.
Olazabal, who was the last man to lead Europe to victory in hostile territory, did admit that he had to think about the offer for quite a while before coming to the conclusion he wanted to be involved again.
"I think Luke did a wonderful job in Rome and I believe he will do a very good job this time round too," Olazabal previous said.
"He took care of absolutely all the details: players, caddies, families. It was wonderful to see some of the lines he came up with and the images from past champions."
Colsaerts believes he bridges the gap well between the vice captains.
He added: "It's not like I don't have intel or golfing IQ, but I know what it's like to be in a team room because it's in my blood.
"But we'll have to see how the guys are playing in the next months to see if we need to take someone we haven't thought about.
"We'll wait and see."
The 2025 Ryder Cup will be played over 26-28 September.
