Scottie Scheffler has confirmed he plans to add the Procore Championship to his PGA Tour schedule ahead of competing in the 2025 Ryder Cup next month.

US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has been championing a move to get as many of his team members as possible to compete in the Procore Championship at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California from 11-14 September.

The tournament, formerly the Fortinet Championship, marks the start of the FedEx Cup Fall Series.

Bradley has not made it a compulsory in any way, but he would like to see as many members of his team get into competition mode and be ready for the biennial dust-up at Bethpage in New York from 26-28 Sepember.

A number of critics and analysts of the defeated 2023 US Ryder Cup team consider a large majority of American players took far too much time off before the action in Rome, and it largely showed in their lethargic performance.

World No.1 and four-time major champion Scheffler is certainly one of the team members to have already backed Bradley's new idea ahead of their Ryder Cup clash with Luke Donald's European team.

"My plan as of now is to go play in Napa," Scheffler told Sports Illustrated's Bob Harig.

"Outside of some extenuating circumstances, I'll probably be playing in Napa.

"I think when you look at the last Ryder Cup (a U.S. defeat in Rome in 2023), I think that was maybe a bit too much time off for us. It's one of those deals, it's tough.

"When you get to the end of the PGA Tour season, I think you're a little bit tired. You look at a year like last year I had, when it came to the end of the season, I was pretty worn out. It took a lot out of me. It was important for me to get rest."

One Ryder Cup member who will not be eligible to compete in the Procore Championship is Bryson DeChambeau.

That's because the LIV Golf superstar remains suspended by the PGA Tour.

It's a decision Bradley accepts, but one that also irritates him
