B Griffin -2 (2)
The in-form American finds a birdie at the 2nd to move within one of leaders JJ Spaun and Sam Burns.
B Griffin -2 (2)
The in-form American finds a birdie at the 2nd to move within one of leaders JJ Spaun and Sam Burns.
Spaun -3 (3)
JJ Spaun makes his first mistake on his 21st hole of the US Open.
The American was forced to chip from the back of the third green from an iffy lie and cannot find the back of the cup with a downhill, sliding 15-footer.
Schauffele +1, DeChambeau +4, Ballester +6 (1*)
Schauffele converts and 11-foot birdie putt at the 1st to get back to 1-over.
And he's got a decent look at birdie at the second.
As does Bryson...
Lowry +9, McIlroy +6, Rose +7 (1)
After all that, McIlroy eventually taps in for a double bogey.
What a sloppy start.
Lowry +9, McIlroy +4, Rose +7 (1*)
Rory McIlroy finds the fairway bunker with his tee shot and somehow doesn't manage to find the fairway as he attempts to get his ball back into position on the fairway.
He lashes wildly at the ball and that thing is not stopping.
It eventually settles in the rough at the back of the green...
Spaun -4 (2)
JJ Spaun begins with two pars.
B. DeChambeau +4 (1)
DeChambeau does not get the start he wanted.
The American found the intermediate rough at the 10th with his tee shot then put his approach into the right bunker.
He splashes out to 11 feet and misses on the high side.
Hovland -1, Morikawa +4, Scheffler +4 (F)
Viktor Hovland saves par on the last to ensure he stays under par for the tournament.
Lovely stuff from the Norwegian today and, in truth, his round could've been so much better.
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler cards a 71 and will stick around for the weekend.
Collin Morikawa is also safely through.
Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose are ready to tee off...
Burns -3 (65)
When Dustin Johnson won the 2016 US Open at Oakmont, he recorded 11 birdies across four rounds.
Sam Burns has recorded the same number through 36 holes.
That 65 today really was superb. He's right in the mix.
Rahm +4 (75), Spieth +5 (75), Johnson +10 (75)
Jon Rahm had it going. Then he didn't.
The Spaniard concludes a frustrating day with a bogey. He's currently sharing 41st place.
He'll be around for the weekend, though. Jordan Spieth should be too.
DJ will be going home early.
Koepka +2 (F)
Disappointing finish for Koepka.
He bogeys the last two holes for a round of 4-over 74.
It leaves the two-time US Open champion down at 2-over par.
By no means out of it though.
Scheffler +3 (16*)
Here comes Scottie!
Well, kinda...
He rolls home a birdie from eight feet under the hole at the par-4 7th.
It move Scheffler back to level for the round and to 3-over for the tournament.
That's seven back, but he's most certainly not out of this yet.
Providing no hiccups on the final two holes, Scheffler will comfortably make it into the weekend.
Just eight players in the red.

Sloppy chip from Hovland.
It leads to a bogey.
Back to 2-under.
Hovland -3 (14*)
Hovland sinks another birdie from 12 feet on the par-4 5th.
He moves to T2 and one back.
Five birdies. One eagle.

Koepka Par (15*)
Koepka nearly follows Perez in for an ace on the par-3 6th.
It's a tap-in birdie for the five-time major champion.
Back to level and right in it.
Scheffler +4 (13*)
Scheffler gets up and down for birdie on the par-5 4th.
A wry smile from Scheffler, who knows he's not got his best stuff out there.
Eight back.
Hovland -2 (13*)
Hovland rolls in a 15-footer for birdie on the par-5 4th.
He moves back to 2-under par.
Perez +1 (15)
It's the first hole in one of the week!
Victor Perez makes an ace on the par-3 6th.
It moves the Frenchman to 1-over par too and right bang in the mix for a first career major title.
🚨 ACE ALERT 🚨

Burns -3 (13*)
My 66/1 tip Burns is flying!
He's just two-putted from about 90 feet for an incredible sixth birdie of the round.
Burns into a tie for second on 3-under.
Hatton +2 (12)
It's a chip-in eagle for England's Hatton on the par-5 12th.
Even a rare smile, too.
Hatton to 2-over par and right bang in the mix for a first major title.
Anything around level par by the end of play today will be on the leaderboard heading into the weekend.
GIVE 'EM A 3! 🦅

Just eight players in the red right now.
It's tough out there!

Morikawa +3 (12)
Morikawa was moving along nicely at level par a moment ago - but he's just gone bogey-double at 2 and 3 to fall back into the pack on 3-over par.
That's still very safe for the weekend but Morikawa won't want to leak too much oil coming home.
Rahm +3 (12)
Rahm fires a stunning long iron in to kick-in distance for birdie on the par-5 12th.
It's the first birdie of his day though.
Rahm is 4-over for the round.
Not out of it by any means at 3-over.
Oakmont is showing its teeth.
