The USGA announced on Monday that Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York will host the US Open again in 2028.

Winged Foot has two 18-hole courses, the East and West, and they were both designed by A.W. Tillinghast and opened in 1923. It last held the US Open in 2020 when Bryson DeChambeau ran away with his maiden major trophy.

It will be the 128th edition of America's home championship and the seventh time it has arrived at the venue. It will also be the 14th USGA championship to be held here. Ryan Moore and Dick Chapman both won the US Amateur when it was held in 2004 and 1940.

The site has also hosted two US Women's Opens, one US Senior Open, one US Amateur Four-Ball and one Walker Cup match. It also hosted Davis Love III's victory at the PGA Championship in 1997.

Winged Foot will become the second-most visited US Open host alongside Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey. Oakmont Country Club has hosted the event nine times and this will become 10 in 2025.

"Today is an incredible moment for all of us here at Winged Foot," said Rob Williams, the president of Winged Foot.

"Our club has a long history of hosting this nation’s greatest men's and women's championships and we look forward to helping write another chapter in the story of our great sport in 2028."

Los Angeles Country Club will host this year's championship and Pinehurst Resort and Country Club will hold the event in 2024 and 2029. Pinehurst is also booked in for three more US Opens thereafter.

"Winged Foot has provided the backdrop for some of the most dramatic moments in the history of our sport, with many of golf’s legendary champions being crowned on the club’s iconic West Course," said John Bodenhamer, the USGA chief championships officer.

"We strive to provide players with the greatest stages on which to compete for a national championship, and there are few stages as grand as Winged Foot."
