Gary Woodland WITB: Everything in the bag of the Houston Open winner

Take a deep dive into the equipment used by the five-time Tour winner and former US Open champion.

Gary Woodland remains one of the most popular veterans in the professional game, having been a fixture on the PGA Tour since 2007 and claimed his first major in iconic fashion at the 2019 US Open.

Now, for the first time since that historic day in Pebble Beach, Woodland is back as a fully-formed winning force on tour himself back in the winner's circle once more. After a tumultuous 2024 and 2025, which came as he was recovering from surgery to have a brain tumour removed, Woodland found some of his old form once again to claim his first win in seven years at the Houston Open.

Woodland has been the subject of much talk on tour in the season's early months. Prior to The Players Championship, the Kansas Native revealed that he had spent much of the last two years battling PTSD stemming from his brain surgery, lending his win even more emotional weight.

Woodland's win was also significant in that it gave his equipment sponsor, Cobra, a win on tour for a staff player for the first time since Bryson DeChambeau's time with the brand in 2019.

Formerly a staff player for both Callaway and Wilson, Woodland signed a full-bag deal with the brand in early 2023, adopting its sister company PUMA as his apparel sponsor. He does, however, have a couple of other clubs in the bag that make for interesting additions to his otherwise full-Cobra set-up.

As such, we thought it a perfect chance to dive into the full set-up the 41-year-old had in play en route to this most fantastic of comeback victories.

Driver: Cobra OPTM Max-K

PGA Tour pros using high-MOI drivers are a pretty rare sight even in 2026, but Woodland and his Cobra OPTM Max-K are a rare exception. The American has consistently gamed the brand's more forgiving driver models since his signing with the company, tweaking his set-up with lead tape in the toe to provide more stability and a Fujikura Ventus Black shaft for a lower, more penetrating flight.

Mini driver: Cobra KING Tec MD

Having previously used PING's G440 MAX 3-wood, Woodland switched instead to a Cobra mini driver to start the year, adopting the KING Tec MD shortly after its unveiling.

Fairway wood: Cobra King Tour

Woodland complements his mini driver with a higher-lofted Cobra King Tour 7-wood, both coming fitted with Fujikura Ventus VeloCore+ Black shafts, giving him a consistent feel and launch profile no manner what metalwood he has in-hand.

Irons: Wilson Staff Model, Cobra KING

While Woodland's time as a Wilson staffer is long over, a relic of his tenure with the brand exists in his utility wood, which is a Wilson Staff Model 2-iron.

Further down the bag, Woodland is yet to adopt Cobra's more modern 3DP model irons, preferring instead the classic forged feel of the previous KING players models. His 4-iron comes in the form of the slightly more forgiving KING Tour iron from 2023, while bladed KING Tour MBs make up the rest of his set.

Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM10

Not many Cobra staffers play a full suite of the brand's wedges as well, but Woodland seems to have found an affinity with the brand's rather underrated (in our opinion) KING wedges. Woodland's are a raw finish set, designed to age and develop a unique patina over time.

Interestingly, Woodland's highest-launching wedge is a 60-degree Cleveland RTZ, which like his comes in a raw Tour Rack finish.

Putter: Scotty Cameron GoLo Tour Prototype

The half-moon Go-Lo is one of Scotty Cameron's most enduringly popular shapes on tour, and Woodland adopted the shape during the 2025 season having previously used a more traditional bladed model. His is a centre-shafted variant, dialling up the forgiveness and MOI even further.

Golf ball: Titleist Pro V1

Like many touring professionals, Woodland uses the Titleist Pro V1, preferring the standard Pro V1's combination of lower launch, higher spin and softer feel.
