Game-improvement clubs aren't typically the sort of models manufacturers tend to afford visual makeovers very often. Such a privilege is normally reserved for models at the upper end of the price/handicap bracket.

In a fun twist, however, the folks Mizuno have taken a different approach to dressing up their most popular higher-handicap model, the JPX25 Hot Metal, announcing today that they'll be offering the easy launching irons in a thoroughly murdered-out option.

The JPX 25 Hot Metal is a iron we love here at GolfMagic HQ, combining the forgiveness of a classic cavity back iron with the buttery-soft feel we've come to expect from the Japanese brand's irons across the decades. The result is their most balanced game improvement iron ever, with tons of launch, ball speed and and forgiveness on offer and an even thinner face for that classic feedback and sound Mizuno players strive to seek out.

It's no surprise, then, that it landed firmly on our list of the best game improvement irons you can buy right now.

The striking visual makeover renders the JPX 25 Hot Metal in what Mizuno calls a black ion finish, which is not-quite-matte and not overly glossy either. The face is finished with a more matted coating to help inspire confidence and consistency at address, while some aspects of the head design and branding are made glossier to help keep the visual identity of the clubs consistent with their chrome counterparts.

In addition to the JPX 25, Mizuno have also given the Pro T-3 wedges the same treatment, meaning players looking to acquire a full set can do so while achieving even more visual consistency from the top to the bottom of the bag.
