Steven Fisk just won on the PGA Tour with this underrated £200 driver
Want to upgrade your big stick for less? This little-talked-about Mizuno might be a great place to start.

While Mizuno's reputation for making some of the best irons on the planet speaks for itself, the general reaction towards the Japanese company's other clubs tends to fall more towards that of curiosity than outright desirability.
None of this is to say that Mizuno doesn't make good clubs outside of their irons. Their drivers, wedges and putters are all trusted right up to the very highest levels of the game. However due to many players, including those on Mizuno's staff team, opting not to play their woods, it's an all-too rare occurrence that we see a Mizuno driver claim a win on tour.
Step forward PGA Tour rookie Steven Fisk, who claimed his first tour win at the Sandersons Farms Championship over the weekend, thrusting an under-the-radar Mizuno driver model back into the limelight in the process.
Fisk signed a multi-year equipment deal with Mizuno earlier this year, entering the 2025 season as one of the game's most in-form rookies after finishing last year's Korn Ferry Tour at the top of the points standing. It took the Georgia golfer just 25 starts to claim his maiden victory.
The driver Fisk used to such great effect is Mizuno's ST-Z 230: a 2023-spec model that launched as a lower-launching, lower-spinning alternative to the ST-Z Max. It was replaced last year by the tour-oriented ST-G model, however it's worth noting that the three other Mizuno players who do game the company's woods, namely Luke Donald, Keith Mitchell and Grayson Murray, all still game variants of the ST-Z and prior ST-X models.
What's better: given the ST-Z range is approaching the end of its life cycle, brand new examples of the ST-Z 230 can be had for under £200 right now. Widely proclaimed as one of the most underrated drivers in the year it released, the ST-Z 230 received rave reviews at its release and still packs plenty of tech aimed at helping generate power and consistency off the tee for a wide range of golfers.
