LIV Golf players picked up valuable Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points following the conclusion of play at The Masters, especially joint runners-up Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka.

Koepka and Mickelson finished in a tie for second on 8-under par, and four strokes behind Masters champion and new World No.1 Jon Rahm.

Mickelson, who became the oldest ever player to shoot a round of 65 aged over 50 in the final round at Augusta National, vaulted 353 places up the world rankings from 425th to 72nd.

Koepka will understandably be disappointed to have carded a lacklustre 75 on Sunday but he can take consolation from rising 79 places up the rankings to 39th position.

Patrick Reed made it three LIV Golf players inside the top five at The Masters, and the 2018 Masters champion bumps himself up 25 spots to 45th.

Elsewhere, LIV Golf's two star names Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson had a week to forget by their own high standards.

Despite a disappointing tie for 34th for Smith, the Australian does at least move from sixth to fifth in the world rankings.

Johnson, who finished a dismal tied 48th, slips back one spot to 70th.

In total, half of the 18 LIV Golf players in the field at The Masters improved on their OWGR position.

Then again, half did not.

As it stands, LIV Golf players remain shut out of receiving any OWGR points and that will continue to have a devastating impact on many players' chances of competing in the four major championships moving forwards.

Those with recent majors in the locker will be fine, but those without are going to struggle unless they qualify via qualifying tournaments.

Players such as Louis Oosthuizen may never play in The Masters again as a result of a dwindling world ranking position that now stands at 127th.

Oosthuizen will at least be able to compete in The Open no matter what happens as his name is already etched on the famous Claret Jug.

If you win The Masters, you can come back any year you like, which is why Oosthuizen's compatriot and fellow LIV Golf team member Charl Schwartzel won't face any issues having slipped on the famous Green Jacket back in 2011.

Other LIV Golf players won't quite be so fortunate though.
