Adam Scott has taken a big job within the PGA Tour a year after admitting he found the LIV Golf League very appealing.

Scott has been appointed as the chairman of the Players Advisory Council.

He was voted in by the members and replaces Charley Hoffman in the position. Scott beat Maverick McNealy and Kevin Streelman for the role.

The 2013 Masters champion help the PAC advise and consult with the PGA Tour's policy board.

Scott, 42, will also consult with commissioner Jay Monahan on issues affecting the tour.

Rory McIlroy is heavily involved. Shane Lowry was also appointed as a new member of the PAC.

Scott is one of the most experienced players on the PGA Tour with more than 370 starts and 14 wins. He's racked up north of $60m in career earnings.

That being said, he has previously been open about his thoughts on the breakaway tour, imploring Cameron Smith to make him an offer

At last year's Genesis Invitational, Scott admitted LIV's schedule was appealing, adding:

"From that side of things, I would consider doing that, for sure. From a lifestyle side of things, yes."

It was widely expected that Scott would join Smith's all-Australian side Ripper GC. Greg Norman has been desperately trying to land Scott.

But Scott has reinforced his commitment to the PGA by joining Tiger Woods and McIlroy's golf league - TGL - and convincing Steve Williams to come out of retirement
