Brooks Koepka has posted a busty photo of his wife Jena Sims on his Instagram page, declaring his love for her in the process, just hours after news emerged that Rory McIlroy has filed for a shock divorce with his wife Erica Stoll.

News emerged earlier this afternoon from TMZ Sports that McIlroy, 35, submitted papers for a divorce in Florida on Monday, less than 24 hours after the World No.2 captured a record fourth Wells Fargo Championship.

TMZ states: "Reasons for the breakup were not made immediately available. We've reached out to McIlroy's attorney for comment, but so far, no word back yet."

The timing of Koepka's Instagram post of Sims has raised plenty of eyebrows with golf fans.

"Oh he’s trying to get in Rory’s head early," said one golf fan.

Another commented: "Out here playing chess while Rory is playing checkers…"

But there is seemingly very good reason for Koepka's photo as today marks the day of Sims' Sports Illustrated swimsuit photo cover

Some consider Koepka's decision to post a raunchy photo of his wife was merely just coincidence in light of the SI swimsuit photo cover, but others think it was sly act to try and get into McIlroy's head on the eve of the second major of the season that starts on Thursday.

What's more, McIlroy's ex-girlfriend and tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki even posted a comment on Koepka's post that read: 'Hot mama' followed by three flame emojis.

McIlroy called off his engagement with Wozniacki back in April 2014, and he then went on an absolute heater to win the BMW PGA Championship, The Open, WGC Bridgestone and the US PGA that season, the latter of which was staged at this week's venue, Valhalla.

Sims commented on her husband's latest Instagram post: 'Major'.

It should be noted that Koepka and McIlroy are good pals, and regularly play practice rounds together when they are back home in Florida.

Koepka is of course the defending champion this week as he bids to win a sixth career major and etch his name on the famous Wanamaker Trophy for a fourth time in his career.

He is looking to defend the US PGA just like he did back in 2019.

The LIV Golf star is priced up at 16/1 to win the 2024 US PGA at Valhalla.

McIlroy's odds halved in price to 6/1 after he sprinted away with a 26th PGA Tour title on Sunday night.

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is bidding to win back-to-back majors and an incredible fifth PGA Tour title in his last six starts.

Scheffler, who is already cracking Dad jokes following the birth of his first child last week, is a red-hot favourite once again this week at odds of 4/1

Koepka, McIlroy and Scheffler all arrive at this week's US PGA off the back of victories in their last competitive starts.

What do you make of Koepka's choice of Instagram photo on the eve of the US PGA? Was it all in jest, or is there more to it? Share your thoughts and comments over on the GolfMagic social media channels.
