Xander Schauffele serves up controversy ahead of US PGA: "Let's hope he never wins The Masters"
Xander Schauffele's dinner menu ahead of the 2025 US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club has caused a stir among golf fans.
Xander Schauffele's menu choices ahead of the 2025 US PGA Championship has divided opinion among golf fans.
Dinner will be served in honour of Schauffele ahead of the second men's major of the year at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte.
Schauffele captured the first of his two major titles 12 months ago after draining a clutch birdie putt at the 72nd hole at Valhalla.
The closing birdie crushed Bryson DeChambeau's heart and landed Schauffele his first major win on his 28th attempt as a pro.
On Sunday evening - just as Sepp Straka saw off Shane Lowry at the Truist Championship - the PGA of America shared Schauffele's menu.
The past champions' dinner always takes place on the Tuesday evening of tournament week.
It is most definitely the case that Schauffele's menu packs some notable items
For starters he is serving smoked goat cheese dates, pickled watermelon, clams casino shooters and steak and bleu cheese crostini.
The main course is a wagyu New York strip with a host of sides, including blackened jumbo shrimp.
And for dessert, Schauffele went with a banana split and strawberry shortcake.
The majority of golf fans on X felt the menu was fairly decent overall, but took issue with the appetisers.
"I'll pass on the pickled watermelon," one wrote.
Another added: "Let's hope he never wins The Masters."
This person wrote: "There is going to be a lot of leftovers."

The 2025 U.S. PGA Championship gets underway on Thursday.
Newly-crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy is the favourite to land his sixth major, followed by Scottie Scheffler, DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa and Jon Rahm.
Schauffele heads into the major in mixed form.
A rib injury forced the golfer to miss eight weeks of the PGA Tour schedule.
He returned at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass and conceded return from injury was proving more difficult than he anticipated.
