DeChambeau off to level-par start on day one at the US PGA Championship

There was growing concern amongst golf fans that players at the PGA Championship could benefit from missing the fairway on the 18th hole at Kiawah Island.

John Catlin was warned for his slow play on the 16th hole and was then given the penalty on the 3rd hole, which was his 12th hole of the day.

It was another frustrating opening round at a PGA Tour event for the Northern Irishman, who shot 3-over-par on Thursday at Kiawah Island.

Sebastián Muñoz pulled his tee-shot on the par-4 18th hole a little too far to the left and his ball came to rest in a very unusual place. 

Viktor Hovland has been in great form on the PGA Tour this season and he caught the eye at Kiawah Island when discussing a difficult shot with his caddie.

Bryson DeChambeau is the longest hitter on the PGA Tour this season and he will need all of his power to tackle Kiawah Island this week.

Although he knows it is TaylorMade, the World No. 1 was unaware of which model putter he has actually been using at Kiawah Island this week.

Brooks Koepka is searching for his third win at the PGA Championship this week and his fifth major title, but he will be looking a little different than usual at Kiawah Island. 

Earlier this year, the PGA of America announced that distance measuring devices would be allowed at the PGA Championship, but Tony Finau only found out this week.

Kiawah Island is ready to host the PGA Championship this week, setting the record for the longest course in major history.
