PGA Tour star Cameron Young makes notable equipment switch at the Memorial
Cameron Young was spotted with using the new Titleist driver in the first round of the signature PGA Tour event at Muirfield Village.
In-form PGA Tour golfer Cameron Young made a notable equipment switch at this week's Memorial Tournament.
As first reported by Jack Hirsch of GOLF, the 29-year-old American has made the move to the Titleist GTS3 driver.
Young had been using the GT3 which has carried him to victories at the 2026 Players and the Cadillac Championship in Miami.
Hirsch reports that Young went down in loft to 10˚ from the 11 he was using in the GT3.
And he has stuck in a Diamana PD 60TX shaft.
The switch didn't immediately pay dividends off the tee, as Young went round Muirfield Village on Thursday in one-over 73.
Young lost strokes off the tee and only hit eight of 14 fairways, averaging 303.90 yards.
Titleist's senior director of player promotions, JJ Van Wezenbeeck, told GolfWRX: "Cameron's one of those players that's always looking for opportunities to get better.
"He had been one of the early testers of GTS. [He] Finally had some time at home after having such a great run to spend a little time with it, and we were able to kind of find a GTS3 in a 10 degree as opposed to the GT3 11 degree in D1.
"[We were] able to get really good spin stability, really good ball speeds and kind of find the sweet spot he’s looking for as we move in the summer months and his speeds start to creep up as the temperatures rise."
Young isn't the only high-profile golfer to tinker with their driver this week.
Masters champion Rory McIlroy didn't make a major tweak, but he was spotted testing a slightly heavier Fujikura Ventus Black 7X shaft.
McIlroy, 37, carded a one-under 71 in round one and is five shots off the early pacesetters.

As for Young, the rest of his bag remains unchanged.
Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of Young's set-up is his choice of golf ball.
Ahead of the PGA Championship, it was revealed that the Titleist Pro V1x 'Double Dot' he has been using actually complies with the proposed testing changes.
Golf's rule makers plan to roll back how far the ball will travel from 2030.
Young said he wasn't aware that his ball confirmed.
"I read something that said it passed that test, but I wasn't aware of that until very recently," he previously said.
"So, at no point was that a consideration.
"It was just really me trying to optimize my golf, and it's the ball that seems to work the best for me."
