Newly-crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy has confirmed he will take a brief break from golf after competing in the only team event on the PGA Tour schedule.
McIlroy did not take long to return to action after he finally fulfilled his childhood ambition of winning The Masters and completing the career grand slam in April.
He played in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with his European Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry at TPC Louisiana.
The pair were the defending champions and ended up sharing 12th place.
McIlroy told reporters in his post-round news conference he was excited to take two weeks off where he will 'reset' and get some practice in.
"I'm looking forward to a couple days off and then sort of kicking the feet up and trying to recharge the batteries a little bit," he said.
He will return to action at the Truist Championship at The Philadelphia Cricket Club in Philadelphia over 8-11 May.
The tournament used to be known as the Wells Fargo Championship and would ordinarily be played at Quail Hollow.
But the PGA Tour stop has a new sponsor and is not being played at Quail Hollow as it the venue for the 2025 U.S. PGA Championship.
Rory McIlroy's season so far
McIlroy commenced his season, once again, in the Middle East.
He shared fourth place at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January before he made his way to the U.S. to compete on the PGA Tour.
His first victory of 2025 arrived at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. It was his 27th title on the North American circuit.
McIlroy then tied for 15th in the Genesis Invitational and shared 17th place at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Then he became a two-time winner of The Players Championship in March.
McIlroy told reporters that he was either going to play the Texas Children Houston's Open or Valero Texas Open before heading to Augusta National to try and win the green jacket.
He opted for to tee it up in the Texas Children's Houston Open where he finished in a share for fifth.
Two weeks later, McIlroy triumphed at Augusta to complete the career grand slam.
