U.S. Open: Which big names missed out at final qualifying on golf's longest day?
Max Homa was among the big names that missed out on qualifying for the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.
The field for the 2026 U.S. Open is almost complete after the conclusion of golf's longest day.
Final qualifying represented the last chance saloon for golfers hoping to tee it up at the third men's major of the year at Shinnecock Hills over 18-21 June.
Several notables took part in the brutal 36-hole qualifier and multiple PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel was among those to survive.
J.B. Holmes (remember him?) also grabbed a spot in the 156-man field.
Elsewhere, the talented Miles Russell, 17, came through with the help of Charlie Woods on looping duties.
Sadly, it was the end of the line for many other high-profile players.
GolfMagic has decided to take a look...
Tony Finau

The big American's slide in the Official World Golf Ranking over the last 18 months has been alarming to say the least.
Now ranked 111th, Finau could potentially go the whole of 2026 without playing a major championship.
The 36-year-old didn't qualify for The Masters or PGA Championship and came up agonisingly short here.
Still, he will head north of the border this week for the RBC Canadian Open chasing a spot in the field at this July's Open at Royal Birkdale.
"I can't go zero for four," Finau told Bob Harig.
Max Homa
The multiple PGA Tour winner missed out qualifying for the 2026 U.S. Open for the second consecutive year.
Homa was defeated in an eight-for-three playoff.
Matt Wallace
For so long, Wallace looked as though he had done enough.
But the Englishman was defeated in another mammoth playoff.
Wallace still has a chance of teeing up at the U.S. Open as he is an alternate.
Jordan Smith
Another Englishman, Smith is enjoying a decent rookie season on the PGA Tour.
But he will not be in the U.S. Open field.
Matt Kuchar
Matt Kuchar has not played in a major since the 2024 Open at Royal Troon.
Brandt Snedeker

Snedeker, who won his first PGA Tour event in nearly a decade at the Myrtle Beach Classic, missed out on qualifying by one shot.
Aldrich Potgieter
A bitter pill to swallow for Aldrich Potgieter, who narrowly missed out on qualifying by virtue of his Official World Golf Ranking.
Michael Block
The Block Party will not head to Shinnecock Hills.
Michael Thorbjornsen
The 24-year-old didn't qualify for The Masters and missed the cut at the PGA Championship.
He made the cut on his U.S. Open debut in 2019 but won't be involved this year.
Luke Clanton
Another superstar in the making, Luke Clanton has only made two major championship appearances in his career.
Both of those were in the U.S. Open in 2024 whilst still and amateur and he also played at Oakmont 12 months ago.
Dan Brown
Another Englishman playing his rookie season on the PGA Tour, Brown played 18 holes of his qualifier in Canada before calling it quits.
