Lefty after former tour pro blocks him: "Softer now than he was as a player!"

It looks as though the public back-and-forth between Phil Mickelson and Brandel Chamblee is over.

At least for now, as Mickelson has revealed former PGA Tour player and prominent LIV Golf critic Chamblee has blocked him on social media.

Six-time major champion Mickelson was quick to get in the last jab, accusing the 60-year-old Golf Channel analyst of 'being too soft'.

To catch you up at bit, Chamblee hit the headlines in the immediate aftermath of Brooks Koepka's PGA Championship victory at Oak Hill.

Chamblee and eight-time PGA Tour winner Brad Faxon discussed Koepka's potential involvement at the Ryder Cup.

Faxon sent the Internet ablaze when he appeared to leave Chamblee at a loss for words when he informed the analyst LIV Golf players at the Ryder Cup wouldn't be playing for money, but their country.

Chamblee was accused of 'showing his true colours' by a former Golf Channel employee who also alleged he lobbied to get fired.

"He's a bully, plain and simply," Lisa Cornwell said.

Later, Koepka's coach went on an all-time rant about LIV Golf, men's professional golf and how the media have handled covering the breakaway tour.

Tiger Woods was the 'ultimate money up front guy' Claude Harmon III told Golfweek's Adam Schupak in his verbal assault.

Understandably, Mickelson and Chamblee were keeping a close watch on all of this transpire.

The pair have a history of trading insults online. No sooner had Mickelson hitched his wagon to LIV Golf did Chamblee call for the Thrill to be removed from golf's Hall of Fame.

He called Mickelson 'manipulative' when Mickelson returned from his self-imposed exile after his infamous 'scary mothertruckers' remarks when talking about working with the Saudis.

Mickelson was invited to chat about all things LIV, PGA with another former tour player Colt Knost live on air but turned down the opportunity, instead writing: 'No thanks, I prefer tweeting like we are'.

Which leads us to this point, after Chamblee offered a 539-word retort, he decided that he didn't want to deal with Mickelson online any longer.

Wrote Mickelson on social media:

"Poor Brandel. He can rip apart me and countless others but as soon as someone shows his ignorance he can't handle it. He's softer now than he was as a player."

In other Mickelson news he is currently in Washington for the next LIV Golf event.

He didn't play as well as he expected to at the PGA Championship but nonetheless sent a chilling warning to PGA Tour execs after finishing his week at Oak Hill.

Mickelson was recently interviewed by U.S. Department of Justice investigators.

The federal department opened an inquiry into the PGA Tour's alleged antitrust behaviour last year. The PGA of America, Augusta National, Official World Golf Ranking, R&A and USGA are also included in this investigation

The New York Times reported that DOJ investigators met with the LIV Golf players before the PGA Championship got underway.

Mickelson refused to confirm what he discussed with DOJ investigators.
