The news comes just several weeks after a former Tour pro labelled Woods a "pathological narcissist" in a new book.
"I've been in the spotlight for a long time, and because of that, there have been books and articles and TV shows about me, most filled with errors, speculative and wrong," said Woods in a statement from HarperCollins Publishers.

“This book is my definitive story. It’s in my words and expresses my thoughts. It describes how I feel and what’s happened in my life.
“I’ve been working at it steadily, and I’m looking forward to continuing the process and creating a book that people will want to read.”

The new book deal was struck by HarperOne executive editor Shannon Welch and HarperOne Group president and publisher Judith Curr.
HarperNonFiction publishing director Jack Fogg is said to be handling the publication in the United Kingdom.
Judging by the book's synopsis, it will go into details about Woods' incredible golf career that has resulted in 82 PGA Tour titles and 15 majors, but also look at the stories that have made headlines away from the game.
Woods went through a highly-public divorce in 2010 after revelations of his marital infidelities convinced him to take time away from the professional game. Then there was his DUI arrest in 2017, at a time when he was going through multiple back and knee surgeries.
The synopsis reads: “Back is a candid and intimate narrative of an outsize American life: from growing up a celebrated golfing prodigy to shattering centuries-old racial barriers as a young pro; from rising to unprecedented fame and global icon status to battling devastating injuries and personal issues; from enduring years of physical anguish to mounting an astonishing comeback at 43 years old, culminating with the 2019 Masters, where his thrillingly impossible victory captured the imagination and hearts of people around the world. This memoir is the first and only account directly from Woods, with the full cooperation of his friends, family, and inner circle.”

Woods, who will celebrate his 44th birthday on December 30, has transformed his golf game over the past 18 months having won three times, highlighted with his 15th career major title at The Masters in April.
The 82-time PGA Tour winner now requires just one more victory to own the outright record that he currently shares with Sam Snead following his most recent win in Japan at the ZOZO Championship last month.
Woods this week tees up in his annual Hero World Challenge tournament in the Bahamas.
