Shane Lowry SNAPS golf club around neck en route to MC at The Open

An angry Shane Lowry snapped an iron around his neck en route to missing the cut at The Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

Lowry, who won The Open at Royal Portrusth in 2019, cut a frustrated figure in the second round at Hoylake as he carded four bogeys and a double-bogey on the 14th hole. 

The Irishman would reach boiling point.

Lowry would tally a 36-hole total of 7-over par, leaving him four strokes outside the cut line. 

It marks Lowry's first MC since the Wells Fargo Championship in May.
