Bryson DeChambeau's relationship with Cobra Puma Golf may not be over, but it does appear to be heavily dented.

A recent report by Adam Schupak of Golfweek has dived into what it has been like for the brand to work with the 28-year-old LIV Golf League player.

If you didn't know, DeChambeau became an equipment free agent at the end of 2022.

He had reportedly been in negotiations to continue his deal with the OEM and they were said to be waiting for LIV Golf to sign off on the deal.

Apparently, LIV Golf had been unresponsive about the proposals since last October.

DeChambeau teed it up at the Saudi International earlier in the month. He missed the cut and continued his slide down the world rankings.

Curiously, he put in to play a TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus. The report states DeChambeau was asked not to.

Ben Schomin, Cobra Puma Golf's PGA Tour rep, told Schupak that he wished the 2022 U.S. Open champion well.

But then he sounded off.

This was because DeChambeau was quoted on the official LIV Golf website about what he was searching for in his driver.

It annoyed Cobra Puma Golf officials, according to the report.

This is not the first time DeChambeau has upset the OEM with comments about his driver.

He memorably said "this driver sucks" at the 149th Open Championship. He later apologised and clarified what he meant.

Schomin told Schupak:

"It was such an asinine statement, especially for a guy who is perceived to be all-knowing when it comes to science and physics, that he said he needs a driver that can be hit anywhere and everywhere across the face and find the fairway."

He added:

"With increased speed, demands increase precision. It’s just like a race car. You've got to be a better driver when you're running at 200 miles per hour than you do at 75 (mph) going down I-95. He doesn't believe that. He thinks there is a magic bullet out there. He's looking for a unicorn."

The report also confirmed that DeChambeau was recently at Ping HQ.

He used their motion-capture lab which was the "primary reason" for his visit, but he also tested Ping product as well.

DeChambeau will soon be back in action for the second for the second year of LIV Golf.

He is the team captain of Crushers GC.
