Justin Thomas has come under criticism from a number of golf fans for saying 'Jesus f***ing Christ' after missing his six-foot birdie attempt on the 18th in the third round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Thomas carded a flawless 4-under 68 on Saturday to progress to 13-under par in a tie for sixth but his round could have been so much better had his putter behaved itself.

The two-time US PGA champion missed a number of birdie putts inside of 10 feet, especially on the closing holes.

It proved costly especially with Wyndham Clark firing a course-record 60 to move to 17-under par for the tournament.

There is also a very good chance the tournament could be now be shortened to 54 holes with horrendous weather forecast on Sunday and Monday.

As it stands though, Thomas is four strokes behind Clark heading (hopefully) into the final round at famed Pebble Beach.

PGA Tour officials are going to make a call early on Sunday as to whether the event can continue as planned over 72 holes.

If not, Clark will be crowned champion and receive a first-prize cheque for $3.6m

But back to the original story and JT has been criticised by a number of fans for his language after not even hitting the cup with his birdie attempt on the par-5 18th.

Thomas missed his putt on the right side and as he then went to tap his ball into the cup for a par while muttering the words 'Jesus f***ing Christ'.

JT's hot language comes 24 hours after Jon Rahm also let an F-bomb loose down the 18th in the first round of LIV Golf Mayakoba.

Not that Rahm cared too much given LIV Golf reportedly do not issue fines for expletives.

Ardent PGA Tour fans will remember Thomas lost his Ralph Lauren apparel deal in 2021 following a homophobic slur he made at the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

Little more than a year later having been a free agent in the golf apparel world, Thomas signed a deal with Greyson.
