Hot mics captured one of the funniest Jon Rahm rants during the final round of The Open at Royal Liverpool.

Whilst eventual champion Brian Harman was safely ticking off pars with some self-confessed 'boring golf', Rahm was trying to hunt down the 36-year-old American.

This moment arrived as Rahm was playing the 15th hole at Royal Liverpool and six back of Harman.

It was a stretch, but he needed a big finish if he was going to have any hope of crossing his fingers and wait for Harman to slip up down the stretch.

As Rahm points out in the video, he is only 40 yards away from the green and has 'nothing to lose'.

We'll let Rahmbo take it from here.

Watch:

Rahm went on to make a par on that hole, before playing the final three holes in 1-under. He finished on 7-under for the championship in a tie for second with three other players: Sepp Straka, Jason Day and Tom Kim

After finishing his round, he told a pool of reporters there was 'nothing any of us could have done' to chase down Harman.

"He won by six," he said.  "It's not like he won by two or three."

Rahm said his attention will now turn to the FedExCup playoffs in a few weeks' time. After that, there is the small matter of the 2023 Ryder Cup.

The aforementioned Straka has boosted his chances of qualifying, whereas young Scot Bob MacIntyre is also making European captain Luke Donald think.

Put simply: Europe are in an okay spot.

Still, Rahm said it was too soon to think about how the team is shaping up. He said:

"You know, I just finished The Open Championship. I'm not going to lie. I love the Ryder Cup, but it's not really on my mind right now. Especially after the day like we had today.
"I'm looking forward to a shower. I know we're going to have a lot of new faces on the team and everybody wants to rectify what happened two years ago.
With Luke's guidance, we're going to have a really strong team, and I'm looking forward to it, and we should have a really good chance of getting that Cup back and defending home turf."
