Jack Nicklaus is a retired American professional golfer who is widely considered one of the greatest golfers of all time.

He was born on 21 January 1940, in Columbus, Ohio.

Nicklaus turned professional in 1961 and went on to win 73 PGA Tour events, including a record 18 major championships, three more than Tiger Woods

Nicklaus' major championship wins include six Masters titles, five PGA Championships, four U.S. Opens, and three Opens.

He is also known for his consistent performance in major championships, finishing in the top 10 a total of 73 times.

In addition to his success on the golf course, Nicklaus is also known for his golf course design work.

He has designed or co-designed over 300 courses worldwide, including many that have hosted major championships.

Nicklaus was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974 and has received numerous awards for his contributions to the sport.

Nicknamed The Golden Bear, Nicklaus married Barbara Bash in 1960. The couple have five children and 22 grandchildren. 

He remains an influential figure in golf.
